What is 8KDVD?

8KDVD solves the “Format War” by using a browser-based navigation system stored on a standard UDF 2.60 Blu-ray disc. By utilizing the VP9 (Profile 2) codec and Opus audio, we achieve 8K clarity that surpasses current 4K Blu-ray standards.

The 8KDVD “Body of Standards” uses four distinct quality profiles:

  • HQ Plus: The ultimate 8K experience (70 mins @ 22GB for the 8K tier).
  • HQ: High-bitrate 8K/4K mastering.
  • Standard: The 100-minute movie benchmark for 50GB discs.
  • LP (Long Play): Optimized to fit massive amounts of content on 25GB discs.

This is the heart of the video process. It contains both SDR and HDR batch files. HDR Support: We have updated the batch scripts to handle HDR10 metadata. The 3D Mastering Library

The .3D4 variant is a hallmark of 8KDVD. To master your Source3D.mp4, we recommend using CyberLink PowerDirector (v10–16) or Adobe Premiere Pro (2025/2026).

Important Note for PowerDirector Users: We have found that version 16 is the “Gold Standard” for 3D. Version 21 and newer do not handle the anaglyph engine as effectively.

  • Optimal Depth: Set to 256.
  • Fill the Screen: If you see black bars, crop your video and use the “Video Enhancement” tool to render a full-frame 4K 3D image.
